PC's are having trouble getting updates for 2004.

Missing folders in my .iso

Every time I go through the process to create a new image, the finished product is always missing three folders from the deploy folder. Those three folders are Buildscripts, ExtraFiles, and ExtraFilesMedia. The boot and Efi folders always come out just fine but that deploy folder is always short which makes the image complete unsuccessfully when I place it on a thumb or external drive.

I follow the instructions properly (or at least I think I do) and everything looks great but for some reason, those three folders are never included in the actual build. I’ve tried looking up xml files to see if changes need to be made in there but honestly, I don’t even know what to look for since I am still new to the whole imaging creating process.

Please help!

Wondering if there is a GPO missing to map drives at logon for 2004.

I built a few new images using the 2004 ISO.

Everything works except the two mapped drives everyone should get at logon.
You can see the drives, as drive icons but they have no bar showing data and they give an error,

and error occurred while reconnecting Y: to \\server
Microsoft Windows Network. The local device name is already in use.
The connection has not been restored.

If I remove the two drives and run a gpupdate, they come back.....until you reboot
and then they are just drive icons again.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I found a slew of 'answers' but none
of them worked.

ADK Mount Wim (Error 577, dism, wimmount.sys) (Windows 10,2004/20H1)

I know there is an archived question about ERROR 577 using DISM from Windows 10 build 1703 (which is incorrect in the first place). Forum archives for subject is closed for replies, so, asking here again the question.

Verified:

- Error has nothing to do with secure boot.

(signature failure at WinPE was run with computer with no UEFI and it fails with same ERROR 577 and tested with computer with standard UEFI from Intel with/without secure boot or other features.)

- Error might be version issue, but tested with:

Windows 8/10 - builds:

6.3.9300
6.3.9600
10.0.10240
10.1.10586
10.1.14393
10.1.15063
10.1.16299
10.1.17134
10.1.17763

With ADK versions:

10.1.14393
10.1.15063
10.1.16299
10.1.17134
10.1.17763

So, my question is how can one fix the signature check error identified by build 1703 (15063) and mount Windows PE WIM file ?

Deploy Windows 10 with programms and domain settings

Good day everyone!

I hope that I am typing in the correct section. I work as an IT assistant student in an organisation that has around 80 PCs with

designer software on them such as 3d max, autdesk programms etc.. The setting up from a new PC is a whole day work and I was thinking if I can accesslerate this operation by deploying the system with all programms from a PXE server (Just an idea).

What is the best and fastest way to that? What do I need and where do I start from.

Many thanks!

How often / when do you create a new Deployment Share?

I volunteer at a community center that runs Server 2012 and has 20 PCs available for public use. There are three different computer models among the 20 PCs.

I have a Comp Sci background but no sys admin experience. They had been using Symantec Ghost but I read about MDT and chose to use it instead. I use Lite Touch MDT to deploy. Currently, I create a new deployment share when I think we should deploy a new Win 10 version (I don't deploy every time there's a new release) There's effort in creating a new deployment share but it also makes it easier when as there may be changes in scripts, ini files, maybe other things with new releases.

I'm just curious how others manage deployment shares. Do you create a new one to deploy a new win 10 release? Manage multiple releases within a single deployment share? When do you tend to create a new share?

Sccm MDT Replace Usb not found

I'm trying to get the Replace Stage Group to work but when it boots to the winpe it does not see the usb or external drive, I just get "No target Drive found Please insert a valid USB drive and click the Refresh button.". What is considered a valid drive to mdt, I've try fat32, exfat, and ntfs but nothing works. Has anyone dealt with this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Having an issue with Capturing VM, IMAGE_STATE_COMPLETE

$

I used to see this problem come up because I built my VM's as an admin account other than the actual Administrator.

Now, I have a Build & Capture TS with a suspend. I made a change to my image, rebooted it, shut it down and took a Checkpoint of it. Then I booted it back up and launched the Resume with that old error:

IMAGE_STATE_GENERALIZE_RESEAL_TO_OOBE

Execution engine result code: Reboot (2)

Failed to run the action: Execute Sysprep

I can't imagine this happening with a VM built as administrator with a Resume shortcut.

Hi Team,

SCCM 2012

We have a bunch of Applications listed in the OSD Task Sequence, all the installation gets completed successfully on newly build Win10 machine.

But one application failed to install, have not got any error. I have completely deleted the application from the SCCM and recreated, and re added to the OSD task sequence but still its not installing.

Application ; Carbon Black Defense sensor

Trying to get MS Updates during my TS.

We have an OU where we can get Windows Updates. One of the policies in that OU is that there are to be no driver updates.

When I run WU manually, I don't get them, in the same OU.

Once my MDT cloning pc joins the domain, it is already in that OU and runs Pre-App Installations. I get drivers that get installed.
One of them is an Intel Bluetooth driver that dings out in Dev Mgr.

How can I prevent driver updates from getting installed? I even added that to my unattend, prevent driver updates. The GPO
in that OU prevents them running Updates manually. How can I stop during MDT?

Once they appear to finish in my TS and it completes, I reboot the pc. Then I can manually run updates right after MDT did and I get only the correct ones we want. I can't get this sorted out.

Issues capturing image

$

Hi,

I've never had an issue capturing an image until now.

I've done a clean install of Windows 10 x64 1909 and installed all updates.

I run  Get-AppXProvisionedPackage -Online | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online then perform a capture.

When Sysprep begins it crashes with the  error 0x80073cf2

Expected image state is IMAGE_STATE_GENERALIZE_RESEAL_TO_OOBE, actual image state is IMAGE_STATE_COMPLETE, sysprep did not succeed.

Please could anyone suggest where I am going wrong?

Many thanks, Matt

One question about installing Office through MDT TS.

I can successfully get Office ProPlus365 to install as an application with my Task.

The question I have is.....is there any way to get the box to close once the install is complete?

You have to click Close to proceed, once Office is done. How does everyone get this to happen?

Hidden Prefix with OSDComputername

How can i set a hidden prefix like "-A" with whatever supplied in OSDComputername.

If a user supplied XYZ during Tasksequence in Computer Name field. Then automatically adds "-A" and make the Computername "XYZ-A"

Prefix will be not removeable.

I am looking for definite clarity on Windows Updates through MDT TS.

We have one OU where you can run Updates. It blocks drivers and unnecessary updates other than Critical and Security.
During the MDT TS, the computer is joined to that same OU, but if I enable Windows Updates (not to a WSUS), I get all kinds of driver replacements, and other updates irrelevant to our software.

The thing I don't get in my TS are the Updates for 2004. I get them manually. So if I have Updates running my in TS, I get lots of things I don't need. After a reboot and MDT completes....I run Updates and then get the 2004 Critical and Security (Cumulative) Updates.

I've yet to figure out what I am not doing, or doing wrong. The same OU should apply either way. Do I need to run a GPUPDATE and a reboot in my TS first? I don't have to when I manually run them.

Local admin account issue during capturing

$

I think the issue with the discrepancy between the local admin account of the machine to be captured and the admin account of MDT.

From the donor machine I can successfully drill into the deployment share\scripts\Litetouch VBS then credentials screen pops up asking to enter the credentials to access the network share this obviously is the MDT admin account  so I enter it and move next, then goes through Bootstrap and asks for credentials again saying "Specify credentials for connecting to network shares". On some documentations this is the local administrator account to be used to access the donor machine after the reboot to continue with the capture process (after the sysprep goes through and machine reboots)

When I enter the donor machine local admin account credentials it says wrong (but looks for the donor machine admin account after the reboot?), only accepts when the MDT server admin account details entered and moves to the next step. Then the machine goes through some process and reboots and I can see the system is trying to access the machine with the same details entered (the MDT administrator account) earlier were I think it should have been the local machines admin account which is not accepted?

The other problem is that the local admin account is disabled but I have enabled it just to see if that was the issue but no luck. Also created an identical account on both the server and client with same passwords, both admins on server AND donor client, then the process just stalls after accepting the credentials. Really driving me nuts.

The interesting thing is that when I do a fresh deployment I can capture that with no issues because the local and server admin accounts are the same (assuming that is the issue)

this only happens when trying to capture an image which wasn't deployed by the MDT server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have a question about Office Updates and user ability.

$

I'm installing Office 365 Pro Plus from a static source on my server. We do want Semi-Annual Updates, but want the dropdown to change that option to hidden.

I've found that I can hide the option only if the Updates are set to NO. Here is what I've found:

  • DWORD: EnableAutomaticUpdates
    Values:
0 = automatic updates are disabled
1 = automatic updates are enabled
  • DWORD: HideEnableDisableUpdates
    Values:
1 = hide the menu option to enable or disable automatic updates
0 = show the menu option to enable or disable automatic updates

So I'd like to set Updates to Enabled, 1 in the reg, and Hide the option, 1 in the reg.
They're both set correctly but I still have the ability to change the option and it's not hidden.

My 2nd question related to this is: If I set my configuration XML to Semi Annualy does that control the frequency of the updates (making them only Semi Annualy)? And if I change that XML to Monthly, I will get them every month? Or is there something larger controlling when the Office Updates come through?

Lastly, if I turn off Office Updates during MDT using commands to change the registry (and set Updates to NO), does that mean the computer will Never get Semi Annual updates?

Just looking for some clarity.
