After deploy, "User Profile service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded. User profile cannot be loaded."

I sadly say that this is on an image captured from a physical machine. I don't do that but was told to capture one physical pc so that it can be deployed to the same model.

While it didn't bomb during cloning (because of user profiles on the pc), I can't sign on as a new user after the fact.

Any suggestions?

Windows 10 1709 setup.exe taking a long time

Hello all,

Took some time off on working on Win7>Win10 MDT TS.

I am now simply running just setup.exe to test. The "Checking for updates..." portion is taking hours to complete on all test devices. When the default Upgrade TS within MDT runs the upgrade, is it also checking for updates? If so, how can I prevent this.

Thanks,

Upgrade Task Sequence not starting/displaying progress bar

Hello all,

Working in an environment where they have been imaging from MDT running on a Windows 10 OS.

Just upgraded MDT to 8450 and installed the latest ADK - wanting to start upgrading devices from Win7/Win10.1607 to Win10.1709. Upgraded the shares and then updated them as well.

I created a Standard Upgrade Task Sequence. I chose the Windows 10 1709 that I got from the VLSC - imported the source files into MDT.

I run "LiteTouch.vbs" from within the Operating System. I am prompted to select my TS, which I do. Then nothing happens. No progress bar. I do however see that log files are being generated, and drivers are downloaded. I come in the next day and the device is on Windows 10.

Why am I not seeing the progress bar? Any ideas?

I can post log files Monday.

Thanks,

Windows 7 Pro 64 DISM [0x80070570] RestoreFileNodeList:(2188): The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

So, I'm running into an issue I can't figure out. I've done this Many, Many times with multiple OS versions over the years. In fact this quarter I've redone this process 8 times now trying to resolve the problem. New VM, New capture share, New test deployment share, with and without the drivers. It's just bust. It's only happening on Pro x64. x86 and Ent both worked fine.

Create base windows image from Install iso

Audit mode - fully patch the machine and customize with the same script on all OS versions

sysprep with MDT like always

Captures just fine no errors

Deploy - [0x80070570] RestoreFileNodeList:(2188): The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

If I just do the install, then sysprep, deploy its fine.

If I let the machine reboot after sysprep the OS loads up like it should. It's only when its redeployed.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated before I open a ticket with Microsoft.

edit offline ISO

Hi,

I need to create multiple OFFLINE Keys with some different files Inside.

So need to edit initial ISO, replace some files and make it bootable.

A while ago I did it without probs...

But I think I edited ISO without recreating it with Image Burn or something else. Just saved after editing ...

What do you do for creating a Key with offline image.

Everyone needs to replace CS.ini at least.

What is your method?

Thx.

MDT rebooting before getting to task sequence selection

$

I have a Windows 10 (1709) image setup on a USB from MDT 6.3.8450.  Works fantastic on all new and recent machines.  However, on SOME older machines, when we boot off the USB, the Windows Deployment Toolkit greyish screen pops up, sits for a few seconds, then reboots.  Keeps rebooting over and over.

I did some digging and finally found this old thread - https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b8b4fd55-1564-4f5e-9c09-3b97121725df/computer-restart-at-splash-screen-when-deploying-image?forum=mdt

So I did an F8 as soon as I got to that screen and I was able to get to a dos prompt.  I checked for logs, but not finding anything.  So I ran the litetouch.wsf in debug mode as per the above thread.  Last few lines of output below, nothing really meaningful above it.

No task sequence is in progress.
Unable to connect to BCDstore.
Not running within WinPE or WinRE.
......
SMS Task Sequencer already found on X:\Deploy\Tools\X64
Copying D:\Deploy\Control\\TS.XML to X:\Deploy\Tools\X64

And the copy fails because the path is messed up - it's missing the task sequence, which I'm not getting a chance to select.  So not sure if my troubleshooting is even any good.  Does litetouch.wsf/vbs run AFTER selecting a task sequence (I would think so.)  If so, I'm guessing there's something else going on.

Below is my customsettings.  Again, this works fine on all new machines, so. . .?

How to join Azure AD as part of a Windows 10 task sequence?

$

Hello everyone!

For a little while I have been building Windows 10 images to join to an Active Directory domain.

A project has come up that is requesting that I add a process to join Azure AD, instead of Active Directory.

The image itself is a standalone USB deployment with a few custom image tasks that run in the TS.  (network deploy is currently not an option).

Did some looking up and found one possible method of doing this, where you add a custom task that calls up sysprep with /oobe /quiet /quit and add "FinishAction=REBOOT" to Customsetting.ini.

While sysprepping the computer will ultimately lead to the window where I can join Azure AD, it seems like there should a cleaner and quicker way to invoke that Azure AD join after the image lays down.

So, anyone familiar with a command I can add to the TS to join Azure AD with?

Sysprep failing because of Windows Update

Hi There,

MDT deployment is failing because Sysprep is not able to run. When I checked the setupact.log, it says that there are some windows updates and reboot is required.

Can we avoid this reboot or is there anyway I can disable the Windows Update completely so that no updates are getting installed during deployment in the background. This is stopping my deployment completely.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please find the error message below.

Expected image state is IMAGE_STATE_GENERALIZE_RESEAL_TO_OOBE, actual image state is IMAGE_STATE_COMPLETE, sysprep did not succeed.

FAILURE ( 6192 ): ERROR - Sysprep did not complete successfully, check C:\windows\system32\sysprep\panther\setupact.log for details

Thanks,

Sourav

Can a physical pc be converted into a vhdx then used in MDT?

$

I recently captured a physical machine by request through MDT. It did capture and I can deploy it, but they're having issues with some SQL preloaded stuff and they want to add a user, etc.

Since I can't modify the image in that way, I see that perhaps VMWare - VMWare VCenter Converter -  can capture the image for reuse/modifications. I don't know if it syspreps the image. I'm guessing that I can copy that vm over into MDT?

Another tool I see is Disk2vhd. It says this can be used with Hyper-V so I'm guessing I can also use this in MDT (to convert it to WIM in a Sysprep/Capture deploy).

The main thing for me is that the image gets sysprepped. I wonder if anyone has used either of these to convert a physical pc image to VM and use it in Hyper-V and MDT.

Any info would greatly be appreciated.

Any caveats in capturing a physical machine for deployment use?

I'm given a latitude 5550 with specific software installed. I'm not concerned about drivers as this will only go back onto other 5550 laptops. There are several profiles on it, mostly MSSQL users and .net profiles. Administrator is also activated and had been logged on as.

I'm concerned about sysprep bombing because of multiple users on the pc. I just know that I am asked to capture this pc as is so that we can deploy it as it. I always use the standard Sysprep and Capture TS for 1703 or 7 when I capture a VM.

What can I do specifically to make sure this captures the whole pc sysprepped without bombing during boot up?

I might also add that this pc appears to have been created using MDT, then more software has been added to create the image they'd like to capture.

Thanks

ZTIWindowsUpdate tries installing CU that's already installed

Seeing an issue trying to build an image for Windows 10 x64 build 1803 in standalone MDT 8450 with the new 1803 ADK.   It keeps giving me this error:

    Failed to download: eb863932-a151-446c-8884-ab5add176f94  result(4) : 2018-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4103721)

All other updates download from WSUS and install correctly.  To work around the issue I injected that update offline via the Apply Patches step.  I confirmed it does successfully install the CU in to the image, but ZTIWindowsUpdate continues to try downloading it and continues to fail.  I can put an exclusion rule in MDT for it, but not really sure what’s causing this.  Thoughts?

MDT - SSL Security Error when connecting to DB TLS 1.2

Got an issue where when WinPE tries to connect to the DB and the SQL server is set to use TLS 1.2 and we get this error

ZTI error opening SQL Connection: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (SECDoClientHandshake()).]SSL Security error.

Change to the other server where TLS1 is enabled and it works.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

WinPE USB reboots

Hello,

Trying to boot from USB into WinPE. Prepared the key with diskpart, used copype.cmd to copy the files and copied the litetouch_x64.wim from the deployment share to the sources folder on the key. It boots ok, but the Litetouch vbs never launches, instead the pc just reboots.

If I hit F8 I get both IP and can confirm local disk is visible.

Any ideas what might be wrong. What log file can i check.

thanks

MDT 2013 and ADK

$

We need some guidance with installing MDT 2013 and ADK. We would like to deploy Windows 7 to some older machines and Windows 10 on new Lenovo models. We downloaded and installed the latest version of ADK and then installed MDT 2013. When opening the workbench message states ADK not present. We uninstalled and reinstalled twice and get same message. This is running on Server 2012 R2

If we get passed this my next question is can we deploy both Win 7 and Win 10 from the same deployment share? And will ADK do the job for Win 7 as AIK?

Thank you in advance for any assistance offered.

Hi,

We are currently deploying windows 10 LTSB using mdt 2013, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a group policy to enable the common desktop icons such as "User Folder", "This PC", "Control Panel"?

Any help would be appreciated!

SysPrep and capture windows 10 1803

$

Hello, Well i have tried many things before logging this but i have been unable to Sysprep and capture a Windows 10 1803 build installed on a VM using vmware.

Each time i run litetouch.wsf from the command line , i select the TS of capture which is the standard Sysprep and Capture TS (no changes).

This then shows the next screen where normally when i have captured of windows 10 build im able to select Capture and select a location of where to save the wim to. However now the default selection is to DO Not Capture an Image.

Anyway i have tried changing this to Capture (the top most selection on the screen) and select a location of where to save the wim file to. This then proceeds and and starts its sysprep, now before i upgraded to the latest mdt 8450 version i was getting the error before reboot of can not find the script lticleanup but now after the 8450 update i do not get that error the system restarts and i get the windows setup , then once finished i get can not find ltibootstrap and no capture has taken place.

I have a feeling i need to update the windows ADK but as i have already updated mdt i dont want to make things not work for my existing deployments.

Has anyone updated Windows ADK after MDT and are there things that need to be re-done to MDT after the ADK update, like update the deploy share?

Thanks

MDT Media - Deployment Wizard canceled or did not complete sucessfully.

Hi fellas,

Ordinarily I avoid MDT Media with USB, and this is a good example why - I always have to fight with it.

MDT version 8450.  The issue at bottom is that, with 8th generation Dell machines no longer allowing Legacy boot, I have to do UEFI.  For the time being USB imaging is my only option.

However, UEFI-booting requires FAT32, which in turn will not permit any file over 4GB, and the W10 image I'm using is about 5.5GB.

I started trying to get MDT to work with split wims, but then I learned that Rufus can do UEFI with NTFS via some sort of hack, so I generated my media with an ISO that I burnt to a 64GB flash drive in such a fashion.

The booting portion goes fine.

But once I get to the MDT background, it thinks for a bit and returns this:

I went through the log files in the minint folder and found little that jumps out at me.  You can find themhere, along with the customsettings.ini and boostrap.ini files.

Seperate driver sets (computer and printer)

Hi Team,

I need to install two types of drivers, the first being the laptop model drivers and the second being printer drivers.

At the moment, I have:

Out of the Box Drivers

> Windows 10 x64

 >> Dell Inc.

 >>> Model

>> Printer Drivers

 >>> Canon Universal x64

I'm setting Select Driver Group "DriverGroup001" to Windows 10 x64\%Make%\%Model% which is working perfectly.

How can I set it to also install the Canon Printer Drivers?

Thank you
