$

I am looking at deploying a windows 10 image to a few UEFI computers, is there a particular partition layout I need to use and any special considerations in doing this.

I already have a captured image that is ready for deployment with the basics like customizations that needs to be run on each computer for hardware specifications.

Hope I have explained myself clearly.

Hi,

trying to figure out why an in-place upgrade keeps failing, i have a set of log files at http://1drv.ms/1ictdWd but I am trying to find out specifically what the errors mean that i get in my MININT log files

from BDD.log
File C:\MININT\Scripts\LTITriggerUpgradeFailure.wsf already exists in TargetLTICopyScripts10/09/2015 11:54:170 (0x0000)

BDD Log highlights the "The task sequencer log is located at X:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SMSTSLog\SMSTS.LOG" with red as an Error

Each time a new step in the TS starts, the BDD log starts with:

Microsoft Deployment Toolkit version: 6.3.8290.1000          ZTISetVariable                             11-09-2015 08:15:28                  0 (0x0000)

The task sequencer log is located at X:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SMSTSLog\SMSTS.LOG.  For task sequence failures, please consult this log.                           ZTISetVariable                             11-09-2015 08:15:28                  0 (0x0000)

And the ”The task sequencer log …..” line is highlighted with red as it was and error.

Anybody know why this is and how to fix it?

If I bring in the USB 3.0 drivers into Out-of-box drivers then there are no issues but if I install this as an application MDT throws return code: 14. Why?

Windows 10 Deployment stops at login

I created a new task sequence for a Windows 10 deployment and it stops at the login screen every time.  My Windows 7 tasks work as expected when deployed. In order to complete the deployment for my Windows 10 image,  I need to login as the local admin and the deployment continues from there and finishes without error.   The laptop has already joined my domain at this point in the deployment process, if that means anything. I am sure I am missing something simple for this task but I have yet to find it.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Craig

WinPE Drivers for VMware Workstation 11

Hi,

I am trying to use VMware Workstation 11 to create a master image for distribution by MDT 2013/WDS. I've added the VMware drivers to the deployment share and configured it to inject drivers by the detected platform, "VMware Virtual Platform." Each time I try to capture an image, it takes forever... Forever, I mean days, until the process times out and fails. I added the VMware Tools to the VM, and set the NIC to bridged mode (1Gbps). This time, the capture wizard takes an additionally long time to complete. When it reboots into Windows PE, I get an error message.

File: \Windows\System32\drivers\pvscsi.sys

Status: 0xc0000359

Info: The operating system couldn't be loaded because a critical system driver is missing or contains errors.

Pvscsi.sys is a VMware driver. Surely, I cannot be the first person who has tried to use Workstation 11 as a tool to create master images for MDT 2013. How can I fix this driver issue? I'll try disabling the driver in MDT, but that kind of defeats the point of having them there in the first place. I am trying to create an image of Windows 7 Professional x64.

Thanks in advance.

Jason

Offline Media Windows 8.1X64

I follow offline method to deploy Windows 7X64 to give some clear picture this is what i do,

1. Boot from WinPE(USB stick)

2. Run Custom script in WinPE which calls Diskpart wipes and create one single partition(Create Partition ..Format Partition..ACTIVE...exit )

3. Initiate copy of the CONTENT folder ...REBOOT

4. Follow the TS ...Complete

it works flawless I tried to do the same for Windows8.1X64 it results in "Hard Disk - (3f0) boot device not found"  but when I boot it via LTI from MDT server it works perfect issue is only with offline media, I am using ADK for Windows 8.1 so WinPE is the correct version my question do I need to include any additional package ...drivers...scripts ..?

Hi

I'm trying to do a build and capture of Windows 10 using MDT 2013 Update Preview 1. This worked fine on my workstation but since moving to a dedicated 2012 R2 server I am having problems trying to update the Deployment Share and generate my boot images.

The error output looks like this:

Copy: D:\Program Files\Microsoft Deployment Toolkit\Samples\Background.bmp to C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\MDTUpdate.3448\Mount\Windows\system32\winpe.bmp

ERROR: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Am I correct in saying its failing because the background.bmp file is in use by something else or barking up the wrong tree?

MDT2013 WSUS task Sequence very slow

Hello

I have setup my task sequence to include the Windows Update Post Application Install.

I have set my WsusServer in my customsettings.ini file to go to our internal WSUS server.

This works but it is very slow to install , it looks like it downloads fine at a speed i would expect but to install 50 updates took over 24hours.

I have google'd around and saw someone who said about a proxy etc, so i thought to give this task in the task sequence Run as rights. I entered my details which would have rights to run and now i get the error

TI ERROR - Unhandled error returned by ZTIWindowsUpdate: Invalid root in registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU\UseWUServer". (-2147024891  0x80070005)

If i remove the the run as rights the WSUS post application task works but is very slow as before.

So my question

1. Why is this very slow to install?

2. Why i get the error when run as rights are entered in the Task Sequence?

Thanks

Activate deployed Windows 10 on Windows 8.1-based PC

When we buy PCs from our vendor they come with a Windows 8.1 license. We always clean install Windows to our PCs, so we therefore deploy Windows 10 to them (wiping Windows 8.1 in the process), but we're having trouble activating Windows 10 after the install. How can we activate Windows 10 without upgrading from Windows 8.1 to 10?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Using LocationServer.xml breaks share credentials

$

I have multiple deployment shares setup (Production, Development, International, etc.) and I am trying to use one boot environment for all. I have followed to the documentation about LocationServer.xml, removing the DeployRoot property from Bootstrap.ini, placed the custom LocationServer.xml in \\Share$\Extra Files\Deploy\Control, added Extra Files to the PE settings, and updated the Deployment Share to create a new iso and wim. When the deployment wizard launches it correctly displays the location wizard with the deployment shares' friendly names in the drop down list. But when I try to connect any share it prompts for credentials, which are defined in the Bootstrap.ini. I cannot find any documentation for how to define the deployment share user credentials within the LocationServer.xml file to automate this portion. If I cannot automate the user credentials, then the LocationServer.xml function is pretty much useless for me.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

Wayne C.

MDT Offline Media on multi-partitioned external drive

Hi guys,

I've been trying really hard to make this work but can't figure it out.

I divided my external USB drive into 3 partitions: NTFS, ExFAT and MAC OS Journaled. NTFS partition contains a bootable LiteTouchMedia ISO, ExFAT is empty, and MAC OS Journaled partition contains MAC OS X bootable installation media.

I am able to boot from NTFS partition and start the OS deployment process, but when the PC restarts after installing OS it says that "OS wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system". Do you guys have any suggestions on what could be happening or if MDT doesn't like the multi-partitioned external HD?

If I boot into PXE or from a hard drive with a single NTFS partition everything seems to work.

Thanks a lot!!

Steve

I am cracking my head over this for few days now, I recently patched my reference image (Windows 8.1) with all the latest windows update then when deployed I am getting the error “HARD DISK - (3F0)”  and please note I have not made any changes to TS.

My guess is it could be a BIOS issues where I may have to update the Firmware, Any guess?
