Just want to check if there are some few best practices (like paging file settings, local policy settings etc.) listed somewhere that are recommended to have in master image before it is deployed to systems?
I need to do some OEM branding (Changing logo, screen saver, desktop image etc. ), can anyone refer me to some simple script\method to achieve it more effectively in master image as part of build TS?

I need help with customizing the default user in windows 8. We use ACRONIS for the imaging process which allows me to take an image and apply the image to a different hardware system, so the process of using sysprep+PE+unattend file are out.
1.) I've created a template profile and customized , started and tiles
2.) need to apply this profile to the default profile
from here ill test logging in with different to make sure the profile is applied. From here, ACRONIS will take over.
Whats the best method other than what I mentioned above?

You can read everywhere (realy) that 6.1.2369 = 6.1.2373, except for SCCM,it's wrong !
Some vbs has changed (or was copied from older 2010 version)
I use "TaskSequenceID" in my Customsettings.ini, it's working "for years", also with ADK. But, when I upgrade to 6.1.2373, it stops working.
I can reverse to 6.1.2369 (backup) and it's working again. Rebuild a new task sequence with 2373 doesn't change anything, neither back to WAIK.

Hello everone,
I have a MDT with update 1 on a windows 2008R2,
Im trying to automaticly install Interner Explorer 8 on a Windows XP with SP3. I added the IE8 as a mandatory applications and skipped the application tab. The application quite install command is: nameofexe.exe /quite .
At the end of the task sequance, When the IE8 starts installing I get the following error:
"The instructions at "0x28740a62" referenced at "0x009776b0". The memory could not be "read"
Click on OK to terminate the program"
When I install without the quiet switch it install normally but manually.
Does someone know how to make it work?

I am getting an error at the end of a Sysprep and capture TS, after sysprep runs and when the machine boots Windows 7 for the first time. It says "Can not find script file "C:\LTIBootstrap.vbs". If I click ok the desktop is displayed.
I'm not sure if it's related but previously I had captured an image of this machine using a custom TS that only captures and does not sysprep, here's the TS:
When I was ready to sysprep I created a sysprep and capture TS, ran that, the machine uploads, reboots and then I get this error.

My problem is setting "Location" property from MDT deployment TS. I'm currently using MDT 2010 Update 1 and I'm deploying a bare-metal machine with Windows XP SP3 (English language). I'm trying to set the following settings:

Trying to get a offline USB deployment stick work so my remote techs can deploy some Win 7 to last remaining XP hold outs. Was able to correct one issue thanks to the help of the forum but now I am unable to get past the Windows is loading files.." screen. The status bar will show complete but then the system just reboots and starts loading the files all over again.

I am getting this error when running lite touch deployment from WDS:
A connection to the deployment share (server name) could not be made. DHCP lease was not obtained for any networking device! Possible Cause: Check physical connection. Abort, Retry, Ignore.
I hit ignore and do an ipconfig and it states media disconnected but it had to have been connected to connect to WDS? It has no IP address yet the description lists the correct driver?
I have ran this same deployment on other hardware on the site without any issues and I have imported all the drivers into WDS and MDT, can you please advise?

I'm looking to see if there is a setting somewhere that I could specify a list of "Paths" in this field, when the import process asks for OS files. Maybe there's some that I can add to CS.ini?

I have created a golden image with all my software and accounts, I created a default user profile and made one of the accounts a mandatory profile. Every time i do a sysprep and capture tack sequance using mdt the image is captured, but then i go to deploy it it seems to remove the account settings and either delets the mandatory user account or turns it into a normal none manatory account. Does anyone know what settings i need to change oin the unattend file in my capture task sequance to stop doing this. i dont want sysprep to touch any accout settings that might affect my seccond mandatory account.

I am testing few deployments for UEFI devices with windows 8 .
I have getting some issues and got confused if I see the partitions listed in WinPE (run Diskpart, selected the Disk 0, List Partitions) when TS deployment got failed.
Pls. find the image attached.
My TS has partition scheme as UEFI, MSR and Primary (3 partitions) for target systems but when TS failed and checked the disk partition , I am getting like 6 partitions in total on the Disk 0. Does it mean that MDT has created default partitions as well
as partitions defined through TS?
My understanding is if device is UEFI and partitions are been defined in TS , MDT should provision the customized disk partitions based on the TS .
Pls. correct me if my understanding is wrong...Can anyone explain me what could be wrong with the TS that MDT has 6 partitions?

With IE9 it was very easy to import this to MDT2012. I simply downloaded prerequisite KB2454826 and the IE9 msuhttp://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=210143 from Microsoft. Then in MDT2012 clicked Packages and the Import OS Packages. Selected both files and I was done. The prerequisite and IE9 will get installed during my Win7 x64 task sequence.
But now I want to add IE10 aswell but I can't find the correct procedure to do this. Can someone help?

I tried to deploy an Acer W510 Tablet with the "new" Intel Atom Z2760 Chipset/CPU combo. Acer offers an installer and/or the plain drivers as inf files. When injecting drivers MDT finds a lot of the provided drivers (added them to my deploymentshare), but after the installation of Windows 8, there are a lot of unknown devices in my device manager. When updating the drivers manually (the same files, that are in my DS), everything is identified and installed correctly, so all devices work as they should. Another confusing problem is, that the provided Intel Setup failes with an error (the logs are just saying, that there was an error, not describing what exactly failed), when Win 8 was deployed through MDT. By installing Win 8 with another installation media (USB DVD Drive), this error does not show and the installer runs fine. I really don't know what's going on here, maybe someone experienced a similar situation?!

I use MDT (2012 U1) to install my virtual (VMWare) windows server 2012.
I create a task to capture using the Windows Core Server choice
I create a task to deploy a new server from the capture.
The both tasks are without any ... changes.
It works fine, but :
If I try to do this command line to install GUI interface I get an error at 68% with the source files could not be download.

I am testing deployment through MDT on few UEFI devices. Partitioning is done by MDT (not defining any partitioning scheme now), but once the Install OS step completes to 100% (image applied successfully) TS fails with 'Boot Drive was not found error' . Any idea what could be the reason? I have all the drivers for the device in TS (provided by the vendor). Pls. find the screen shot attached from BDD log. '

I have been working on building our Windows 8 image using ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 and MDT 2012 U1. My goal is to operationalize it for our local teams to be as simple as possible and need a little help understanding the changes with LTI/UDI and how it interacts with customsettings.ini.
I created a UDI Replace Task Sequence and set customsettings.ini appropriately (SKIPBITLOCKER=YES), rebooted into WinPE, but when the UDI Wizard started it still prompted for Bitlocker as well as many other screens that I had skipped in my customsettings.ini. I eventually created my own UDIWizard_Config.xml with those screens removed but my question is this:
Will I have to configure customsettings.ini as well as the UDI Wizard for each step I want to configure/skip? Do customsettings.ini and the UDI Wizard talk at all or are they seperate entities that both require customization?
Did I perhaps choose the wrong TS and need to create a Client Task Sequence or Custom one?

I have an image I wish to update and recapture. I have pulled the image down from MDT, updated with the latest patches, ensured that the OS is not at 0 rearms and attempted to sysprep and capture. Below is the error I receive. I'm not an MDT expert by any stretch of the imagination and searching the error hasn't really pointed me in any particular direction. Any clues?
