Hello All,

I've been integrating HP SPP with MDT to deploy OS 2012 on HP servers. would anyone please help me to understand how to integrate similar deployment pack for Dell servers. I do not know but think that dell has deployment pack which is same as HP has SPP.

anyone has done it before or have any idea as to how to download, configure, run it on MDT... please provide info.

Thanks in advance!

Suppress certain Application folders based on task sequence selection for MDT 2012?

Hey guys,

I'm working on upgrading our Helpdesk team to MDT 2012. So far I love it. I'm just trying to get one feature back that we had in MDT 2010 and was hoping for a little input from you guys on how to do it. In MDT 2010 we separate our applications under OS-Specific folders. So if someone selects a task sequence to deploy an image for Windows 7 with Sp1 x86 we suppress the other Application folders in the MDT Wizard for any other OS but that one. That way they can only install applications that have been approved and tested for Windows 7 with Sp1 x86. In MDT 2010 getting this to work involved using selection profiles and making an edit to "DeployWiz_Initialization.vbs". The process is outlined in this fantastic blog post by Michael Niehaus:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/mniehaus/archive/2010/06/11/selection-profiles-with-the-lite-touch-deployment-wizard.aspx

I was hoping the same thing would be possible in MDT 2012, byt maybe this time I wouldn't have to edit any of the base scripts. I've Googled around for a method, but I've come up empty so far. Does anyone know how to achieve this in MDT 2012?

Internet explorer doesn't display sites correctly unless they are trusted

This is an odd problem. On the reference image prior to it being sysprep'd and captured, going to certain sites (e.g. lifehacker.com) the menus, all pictures and advertisements display just fine. But once capture and deploy that image those sites stop working the way they should. I made sure the unattend file was making zero changes to IE and I even disabled the IE configuration app that I made with IEAK to ensure that IE was being setup as is out of the box, but something is changing the way it operates and it fails to work the way it did before it get deployed to a client. I don't have any extra add-ons and no tracking protection lists.

The big problem is it causes compatibility issues with lots of sites, such as menus not appearing when you hover like they should. I even tried building a clean machine from the Microsoft media directly and creating IEAK packages from that, a totally clean machine. That didn't work either.

Anyone else have weird problems like this before?

MDT Deployment Failure notifications

I'm not looking for help with a specific failure code, but what I am looking for help could be what steps happen for failed deployment, which scripts fire off, etc. My end goal is an email alert being sent out when any deployments fails. This would be very helpful for remote installs.

Thanks!

How to deploy Windows 8.1 to many tablets ?

We need to create a customized OS image (SOE) for Windows 8.1 and deploy to a number of tablet devices in our company.

We can create the customized image but am are not clear about how to deploy to a tablet. We have SCCM 2012.

Whats the best way to deploy an OS image to a Windows tablet ? I would prefer detailed steps on this procedure.

Connection to the deployment share could not be made (network driver not installed)

Hi guys! i bought the new laptop Dell Latitude E6510 and try to install the enterprise image but i got the error:

"A connection to the deployment share could not be made. The deployment will not proceed. The following networking device did not have a driver installed PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10EA&SUBSYS_040B1028&REV_05."

I look on internet and i found out that it is the intel network card driver missing. So i get the driver from Dell website and i added this drivers in the MDT console.

Then i have updated the deployment share to rebuild the boot images. Everything went fine but i always get this error.

Am I missing something ?

How do you setup TPM for Dell computers and use BitLocker (offline)?

$

If the system password is set and TPM is turned on and activated manually, BitLocker offline works just fine. Using the Dell CCTK I've created steps in the task sequence to set the password, turn on TPM and activate it. The problem is the system has to be rebooted before TPM is actually on, so when it get to the BitLocker (offline) step it fails to get a TPM instance. If I add a reboot step after activating TPM the system just boots back to the MDT wizard and doesn't continue with the task.

Has anyone here been able to successfully automate turning on TPM and using BitLocker offline? BitLocker does work for me, but it's not enabling it until after the OS is install, which by then the system has rebooted but it takes a long time to encrypt after the disk has data on it. That's why I want to make use of the offline feature but not have to always manually enable TPM before booting to MDT.

MDT Media build on clean (empty) HDD failing

Hi all,

My MDT task sequence is failing whenever run from USB media and the machine's HDD begins in a "clean" state.

The logs show that ZTIDiskPart.wsf is switching the USB media drive from C: to W:, but then the next task - Copy Scripts - immediately fails. After experimentation I've determined that it fails because the %SCRIPTROOT% variable is not resolving to "W:\Deploy\Scripts".

Any pointers?

Not all of my systems have blank HDDs, but some invariably will.

Thanks!

MDT 2013 Server 2012 R2 Core Deployment Fails After Disabling ChecksumOffloads on NICs

When changes are made to the Checksum offloads, the NICs reset themselves and I'm losing connectivity to the deployment share during the deployment process (LiteTouch).  It happens during a custom PowerShell script I'm running in the Task Sequence after "Tattoo".

PowerShell Script:

Disable-NetAdapterChecksumOffload -Name * -IpIPv4
Disable-NetAdapterChecksumOffload -Name * -TcpIPv4
Disable-NetAdapterChecksumOffload -Name * -UdpIPv4
Disable-NetAdapterChecksumOffload -Name * -TcpIPv6
Disable-NetAdapterChecksumOffload -Name * -UdpIPv6
Disable-NetAdapterLso -Name * -IPv4
Disable-NetAdapterLso -Name * -IPv6
Disable-NetAdapterRss -Name *

Here are the errors from the BDD.log (sorry couldn't get the _SMSTaskSequence.log)

What I was thinking about trying was adding a few lines to the end of my script:

1. PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 30000 >NUL

This would give the server 30 seconds to right itself after resetting the NICs

2. net use command to remap the share.

Two questions regarding re-mapping the share.

   1. I'm assuming this will run as Administrator token.  Will this be an issue for continued deployment?

   2. At the beginning of the deployment process the Tech has to enter his/her credentials to access the deployment share to begin the deployment process.  Are those the credentials I need to continue using, or does MDT use some other credentials to access the deployment share that far into the deployment process (during state restore phase)?

Thank you for taking time to read my post.

-Cheers!

slow deployment of Windows 8 64-bit using MDT 2012 update 1

$

Hi. I have migrated to MDT 2012 update 1 and have created Task Sequences for deploying Windows 8 enterprise RTM, both 32-bit and 64-bit. I also have upgraded newly-created tasks sequences for Windows 7. I do have 12 Windows 8 x64 OS patches in the Packages area.

Everything works reasonably well, but there is a 13 minute delay when imaging computers with Win8 64-bit. The delay occurs during Operating System deployment. The dialog displays that the deployment process is applying unattend.xml and DISM.exe is mentioned as what is being run. The unattend file looks the same as other Operating System Deployments that do not hitch. I haven't observed any errors or warnings in the log files. Does anyone have a similar observation or suggestion?

Thank you,

Gary

Here is the unattend.xml file I am using (with some privacy modification).

MDT deployment

We currently use WDS and MDT 2013. Some of our images are becoming too large for DVD DL discs and not everyone has a large capacity flash drive at our remote sites.

This is the idea in my mind, and would like to know if it is feasible.

Copy the Content folder or ISO from MDT server to the remote site's server, and have users use a winpe disc to install from a list of available setups on that remote site's server.

Thanks

Hi

With MDT 2013 and Windows ADK, how do I create a single ISO that, at startup, allows to choose whether to run Windows PE 5.1 32 bit or 64 bit?

Thanks

Apply GPO Pack Offline Media Does Not Apply

Hey All -

I've got an issue with MDT 2012 that when I boot to the MDT server and run my task sequence from the server, the GPO Pack applies just fine. However, when I create media the task sequence runs andclaims it applies successfully, but nothing shows up in the local policy editor. If I run the command locally out of the task sequence, then the pack applies just fine.

Anyone had issues with this?

TIA -

Chris

Question on Office 2010 rearm

Hello

I have always deployed Office 2010 in our base Image with MAK key and rearmed Office before capture. We are now moving to a KMS server. I have now configured our Office 2010 install to use a KMS key in our base image. Do I still need to rearm like I did with the MAK before capture? The second part of the question we are using MDT 2013 and I did find this in the LTISysprep.wsf line 146 to 168 a command to Rearm Office 2010 if it is present. Does this work?

Thanks

Task Sequence error while installing Image - build with MDT

Hi,

I am trying to create an Image for windows 7 64 bit with help of MDT . I have to use this Image for few machines which are in remote locations.

I have Installed the Windows Image on a Dell optiplex machine and captured Image using gimagex tool.( OOBE and Generalize done )

Now I have incorporated this Image in MDT and added few applications to it. Since they are going to use a laptop model Dell E7240 i have included only the dell drivers ( out of box drivers ) of E7240 and included the nework drivers for Optiplex machine and used a standard task sequence in MDT.  I have updated the media and created a bootable disk.

Installation starts fine, I select the task sequence and proceed with other steps.

The execution of the task sequence starts and when it reaches install operating system it fails with below error

""

Failure 5624 :-1073741819 0xc0000005: Run Imagex:/apply"E:\Deploy\win7.wim" 1 c:

Litetouch deployment failed , return Code = -2147467259 0x80004005

NO valid network adapter found

Failed to run the action : Install operating sysytem.

unknown error ( Error :000015f8 ,source: unknown )

""

Please help me with this. Since I am new with MDT and in learning phase I am sure I am missing something very silly .

Thanks in advance !!
