Hello,
I am trying to upgrade all of the machines to Windows 7, they are currently running Windows XP.
I have MDT and WDS all set up. I already successfully ran my 'Standard Client Task Sequence' to do a 'Replace' and all is well with the exception of the profile migration.
USMT runs without any errors, however in the documents and settings folder of the back up it does NOT contain the domain profiles. As such it doesn't restore them to the Windows 7 machine. The local administrator profile gets backed up and restored without any issues.
Does USMT transfer domain profiles?
How do I make sure it transfers domain profiles during my task sequence and restores them?
Are there any special considerations with Windows 7 in what sequence the profile restore takes place once I get it working? Because the Win7 machine isn't joined to the domain yet when the USMT does the restore will it cause problems when it is joined to the domain later and the user logs in? I mention this as there will be a folder in the profile directory with a matching name but I'm worried Windows will simply create a new one and append the domain to the name. I would hope it would be smart enough to make the appropriate registry entries to point to the transferred profile though.
Yes, I know you can set up redirected folders but I want the actual profile settings to be migrated. Setting up roaming profiles is not a work around as I will be stuck with v1 and v2 profiles which does me no good on the Win7 machines.
