LTISuspend - LiteTouch is trying to perform NIC configuration error

$

I am having an issue with one particular model of laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1210 mini, its a piece of junk but I have to support it none the less. When PXE booting into the Deployment wizard it stops and reboots before getting to the Deployment Wizard's Welcome window.

Before the reboot it throws the error.

LiteTouch is trying to perform NIC configuration.
This cannot be performed in Windows PE.
If booting from a USB Flash Disk, please remove all drives before restarting.
Otherwise, ensure the hard disk is selected first in the boot order of the BIOS.

There is no usb drive and the hard drive is first in the boot order. I can press F8 and keep the system from rebooting. In the command console I can also see that the wired lan adapter has a valid dhcp address and I can ping just fine. The wireless is in a disconnected state but it appears that it is loading the correct drivers.

I even went as far as to create a test deployment share and regenerate a new boot os and task sequences. I only loaded the drivers for this laptop on the deployment share. Still to no luck.

Below is my BDD.log file

Help with credentials for connecting to WDS network shares

Hello.

I have been tasked with finishing the deployment project. I am taking over for a former employee and I have no idea where to procede.

While trying to deploy a Windows 7 image, we have an issue connecting to the WDS network shares when trying to deploy images through PXE boot. I have gotten to the first screen where it asks to start the wizard but I am stuck at the user credentials page

Specify credentials for connecting to network shares.

User Name:
Password:
Domain:

My login info is correct. I can ping the server from the machine. I am also able to see that the connection is OK but invalid credentials are blocking me.

I want to be able to assign a group to be able to deploy images, but everything I have tried has failed. Here is my current bootstrap.ini and CustomSettings.ini

I have tried both FQDN and NETBIOS domain name. I have entered in my own account info. Nothing works.

Autologin issue - Windows 7 x64/MDT 2012

Hey All -

I'm having an issue with my MDT 2012 setup trying to autologin to my Windows 7 custom image. The install of the operating system goes just fine, but after it reboots, it prompts me to hit CTL+ALT+DEL and then credentials to log in. The first time I log in with the local administrator account, it doesn't do anything, the TS doesn't resume or anything of the like. I log in, and it asks me to set the Network Location, and that's it. I have to manually go to the C: Drive and run the LTIBootstrap, reboot the PC and then log in again to get the TS to continue.. After that, it runs everything just fine and the TS Completes with no errors or warning.

Am I missing something here?

TIA -

Chris

Prompt to choose OS image during deployment

$

Hi there,

I'm new to MDT 2012, and because my organization is moving from Ghost, we're trying to set up thick image deployment before we move on to the more awesome parts of MDT.  I understand how to create task sequences for capturing and deploying these images.  However, it seems like I'd have to create a separate task sequence for each image. Is there a way to have the task sequence prompt for the image to use?

Thanks!

Administrator_ploc user during deployment?

I've noticed on a few of my task sequences in MDT that the unattend.xml file contains the RunSynchronous command to "enable user Administrator_ploc" in addition to the local Administrator account.  Some of my OS install task sequences have it while others do not.  What purpose does this command serve?  My O.C.D. is kicking in and wondering if this is truly needed or not.

Import Operating System Problem

Hello,

I'm trying to import a captured wim file in to "deployment workbench - operating systems" but It's not wotking

I've done this many times before with no problem but when I import this wim file it can't been seen within deployment workbench but you CAN see it in C drive. I've already trying refreshing and restarting MDT & the system MDT is hosted on but the problem still persists.

Here is a screenshot of my problem, as you can see the operating system cannot be found within deployment workbench but it is within C drive,

Thank you.

disable comments in Task Sequence wizard screen

Hi MDT guys,

In the Task Sequence editor you have a comment field. We use this comment field for holding a changelog of changes made to the task sequence.
Those comments typed in that field are showed in the Choose a task sequece Wizard Screen.

How can i disable these comments from displayed in the Task Sequence Wizard screen? We use descibing names for our Task Sequences so we don't use the comment function for descriptions

I know much of it is coded in the XML file (DeployWiz_SelectTS.xml) but i can't find the code for the comment field.

Thanks in advance

Multicast clients from MDT show 0% transfer rate

Here is my issues:

  • WDS and MDT are on same server
  • Clients PXE boot into WDS where a MDT auto-cast is set up
  • Clients are connected and shown under multicast transmission in the MDT auto-cast
  • Clients goes through the entire multicast process but transfer rate is 0% the whole time
  • It does not seem like the OS files were downloaded to client because after multicast process, it than starts the normal unicast process so the entire deployment is twice as long.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thx!

Autologon and Restart computer for XP SP3 in MDT

I have a scenario that I need to restart the machine after adding one registry key so that the application which I am installing later will install properly. I have put restart computer step in task sequence to reflect the registry key, while deploying, the machine gets restart and it failes to autologon. I am getting the logon screen for credentials. Once admin credentials are given, it fails to resume the task sequence. However, I have enabled autologon in sysprep.inf under GUIUNATTEND section,
AutoLogon=YES
AutoLogoncount=999
AdminPassword="xxxx"

Also I have included the same in the unattend.txt, but still it fails to autologon.

Could anyone help me how can I acheive the restart computer and resume the task sequence. Thanks in advance

MDT 2010: Internet Explorer Homepage Not Being Set Correctly in Deployment

$

When I build new task sequences for a deployment, one of the required fields is an IE home page.  I enter a specific home page requested by the customer, but when Windows finishes installing, the IE homepage is set to http://go.microsoft.com.  I have double checked the Unattend.xml files for each task sequence and in the following section:

<component name="Microsoft-Windows-IE-InternetExplorer >

<Home_Page>http://correct.home.page</Home_Page>

</component>

Within the <Home_Page></Home_Page> tags I see the home page I want.  This is the home page IE should go to after Windows finishes installing.  Yet for some reason it still defaults to go.microsoft.com.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

I replaced my MDT 2010 server with a new one, but deployment is still looking for the old server!

I have been using MDT for a couple of years to image new machines, but recently I replaced it with a new server running 2008 R2 so I could use the new version of MDT and take advantage of its nice new features. I created a new 2008 R2 VM and got MDT/WAIK all installed and configured and it will PXE boot and image a new machine just fine...until it gets to the end of the imaging process!  After it finishes with the Windows install and reboots, I can login and everything looks good on the new PC, but then I will get the dreaded message "A connection to the deployment server can not be made.  The deployment will not proceed"

Here is the kicker, in this error message, it refers to the name of the OLD server!!!  When I setup my new MDT server, I did it all from scratch, so I don't know how it somehow got the name of my old MDT server.  If I boot up my old server and plug it in to the network, and then restart my target machine, it will then see my old server and finish the deployment (there really isn't anything left, it just gives me the message saying that the deployment was successful).

So, I need to figure out where its getting this address for the old server, otherwise I have to keep the old MDT server plugged in just for the very end of the imaging process.

Virtual drives appearing after reboot

I have been using mdt 2010 for a while to deploy images since the 2010 release and did not have any problems

lately all images deployed with mdt 2010 recent and earlier deployments are having what appears to

be a virtual drive "Subst" mapped as drive z:

i can remove teh mapping using subst z: /d  but it returns after restart ?

is this being caused by any updates ? how i stop them form coming back ?

Format / clean disk on every install

Hello,

Is it possible to format disk at beginning of task sequence even if earlier install has not finished?

At the moment if OS/App intall fails during MDT install and I restart the same task sequence, MTD will recognize unfished installation and tryes to continue from that.

If I want to start over I need to use diskpart to clean partitions off.

I want to get rid of that manual partition cleaning task so MDT task sequence would every time start installation from cratch.

Cheers, Hude

DISM error 183, cannot create a file that exists mounting VHD

I am attempting to use DISM in Server 2012 against a VHD that has Server 2008 R2 SP1 within it.

I am executing the following command:

dism /mount-image /ImageFile:"D:\xaAzure.vhd" /MountDir:"D:\Media\offline" /index:1

And I consistently receive the error:

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 6.2.9200.16384

Error: 183

Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

I have recreated the VHD (I used Convert-WindowsImage.ps1 to create it), I have rebooted, I have checked for file locks, paths, etc.  I cannot find the root of the error.

The log is not very helpful to me.  there is one error that is useful, but it means little and search is not finding anything:

MDT 2012: Deploying a pre-sysprepped thick image

Hi there,

The answer to this may be "you can't do it that way," which is fine -- I just don't know enough yet to know!

My organization is moving away from Ghost to MDT 2012.  To start this, I'm imaging a machine with a ghost image (sysprepped before capture) and then capturing it using ImageX.   When I deploy the image using a task sequence, however, my default profile gets reset and several necessary post-install scripts (that were specified in the original unattend file) don't run.  I really need the profile to come over, since it has a lot of org-specific customizations.  I tried changing the customsettings.ini file to skip most of the prompts for user info, time zone, etc, but the reset still occurs.

Thanks for any suggestions!

PC reboot before proceed task sequence

Hello

I`m using my MDT to install win7 and it works fine, but now i add some commands to FirstLogonCommand and it`s stop working at all!

Now it`s boot, i can choose boot image in WDS, it`s loading to Microsoft Solution Accelerators screen and just reboot.

What could be wrong?

i`m trying to completely regenerate boot image, restart WDS server, but any of my 3 boot images from diffrent deployment shares works this way.

By the way, MDT 2012, Windows 2008 R2 as host.

Is there any logs if it`s fail in first steps of task sequence or even before it?
