I like and could benefit from the account management feature of Shared PC mode where user accounts are automatically purged from the local machine as needed. I haven't been able to find any info on deploying a Shared PC mode provisioning package with MDT, is it possible?

MDT deployment fails after applying OS

Hi,

I've updated my MDT installation with the latest patches and Windows 10 ADK.

Captured an reference machine with success and also deployed several clients with Windows 10 and Windows 8.1
Now when deploying it always fails at the next step after the Post Install group.

By default this is the State Restore group.
I've disabled all state captures and state restores and added an extra group for two custom applications to install.
All other parts of the TS are default.

This worked last night, but this morning is starts failing again.
In the attached screenshot the error is displayed, this is the same errors as with the State Restore tasks enabled.

Cannot connect to deployment share, booted from USB key

Hi,

I'm trying to deploy Windows 7 Enterprise from MDT 2013, running on Windows Server 2012 R2. The boot key that I use will not have Windows PE connect to the deployment share with the following error message.

"A connection to the deployment share (\\ServerIPAddress\DeploymentShare$) could not be made. Connection OK. Possible course: invalid credentials.

Retry: Try again to connect to the deployment share. Cance: Give up, cancelling any in-progress task sequence."

I can connect to the deployment share through Windows from a UNC path, and from a net use command, but not in Windows PE. Pressing F8 in PE shows that I get a valid IP address, and can ping the deployment server by IP address and FQDN. Net use does not work in PE, and times-out with an error 53, network path not found. There is a firewall between the client and the server, but I do not think it is getting in the way. If it was, I wouldn't be able to connect from Windows. I can't see the log files on PE because C:\MININT is not accessible, no such file.

What could it be?

Thanks

Capture Image Task Sequence Not Calling Correctly

Hi there,

After coming back from our winter break and updating our MDT instance to the latest stable build, it seems that I am no longer able to capture images. After creating a task sequence with the "Sysprep and Capture" template, or using an existing one, I seem to be getting the deployment wizard for an OS deployment rather than capture. As in, when calling litetouch within an image I want to capture, I'm given the screens/prompts for naming the computer, installing applications, product keys, etc. not the screen for capturing an image and where to save it.

I'm unsure what logs you need in order to help me trouble shoot this issue but will be happy to provide anything necessary.

Deploying W10 to UEFI machine

Hi everyone,

I have an issue where my deployments don't seem to be finishing on UEFI-based PC's. The task sequence will run through as normal, but will stop with a blank summary screen, and none of my applications have been installed. The sequence technically may "complete" though, as the final cleanup step of moving the MININT and SMSTASKSEQUENCE logs to c:\Windows\temp\logs\deploymentlogs is done.

  • I first thought this was a Dell/driver issue, as that's the first laptop it happened on. I experienced the same problem on an HP 800G2 Desktop in UEFI mode.
  • HIDESHELL=YES -is- in my customsettings.ini file, but if I remove it, all my deployments fail with all sorts of strange issues. Flickering screen, frozen on black screen, etc. even on non-UEFI computers.
  • In my logs, for software installations, all it says is "Error installing {name of application}: the system could not find the file specified"
  • I used MDT2013 Update 2, with a fully upgraded deployment share to the latest PE10 version.
  • W7 Machines work just fine in UEFI, as does W10 in legacy mode. Our new dells have M-PCIE SSD's and NEED to be run in UEFI for the drive controller to work.

I have a test machine set aside, I can provide any logs or files needed. Originally posted in Win10 forum, and they recommended I seek help in MDT forums instead.

Has anyone else had a similar issue?  Thank you,

i am so lost and need help.

i have watched every video on YouTube and read every article on the web and no luck.

last summer i have a company create me a image for mass deployment.

this year i decided i was going to learn how to to it.

last year we did a all new network and setup so everything was new.

im trying to create a updated image so i dont have to spend a day doing updates when i use pxe to deploy my image.

my problem is that i cannot get it to capture the new image.

the reference computer is on a VM.

i start to vm, login, open cmd as admin, do the net use to the server, run the litetouch.vbs, it starts, it asks me to pick the capture, i hit next and then it restarts and goes back to the main login.

it doesnt give me the option to pick capture current.

i have given permissions to everyone, the main admin account and still nothing.

i have tried maually adding the capture location in the TS under Create WIM and still nothing.

i have read over all of my logs and cant find my issue.

please help.

tell me how to send you all my logs.

Windows 10 Evaluation Version 1607

Hi everyone,

I am getting ready to deploy windows 10 to several new laptops using MDT 2013 and I have created a golden image, along with the task sequence.

So after deploying the image, I see that their is watermark on the bottom right hand corner of the screen, that says Windows 10 enterprise evaluation windows license vaild for 90 days.

How can I get rid of this watermark, the dell laptops originally came with windows 10, shouldn't that have activated it. I did try slmgr /ato and it says it activated successfully.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bobby

I have a image I captured for Windows 7 x64. I have my rules SkipBitlock=NO. But when I run the Task Sequence for this image bitlocker does not show up on the Litetouch wizard. Other Task Sequence work fine and bitlocker show up using the same rules.

I did capture the image on MDT 2013 update 2 to and am deploying it on MDT 2012 Update 1. My MDT 2013 is still a work in progress and I don't want people using it yet for deployments.

MDT 2013 - Different settings per task sequence

Hi,

I'm trying to create different settings for different TaskSequenceIDs. For one TS I wanted to join the pc to a workgroup and do SkipApplications=YES and for the other TS I wanted to join a domain and do SkipApplications=NO. But I can't get it to work for some strange reason.

I've tried and tested this solution https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Different-settings-per-4faa55e9#content but it doesn't work.

I tried this too : http://www.the-d-spot.org/wordpress/2012/07/20/how-to-use-different-settings-per-task-sequence-with-mdt-2012/ but it doesn't work.

Perhaps MDT 2013 acts different then 2012 and 2010???? It would be nice if you could help me out on this one. :-)

Custom Pane not showing up since MDT upgrade

I have installed the latest MDT version (6.3.8443.1000) and upgraded the ADK to Win10 (1607)

I had created a custom pane to prompt for MBAM agent install but since the upgrade the pane is not showing up anymore, i haven't changed the CUSTOM.ini file nor the Task Sequence

I have checked the scripts folder and i still see my custom pane DeployWiz_Mbam.xml and script DeployWiz_Mbam.vbs

Task Sequence variables

Hi I had a question regarding task sequence variables. I have a task sequence which will be used for every model of laptop we have and I needed a way to distinguish between model for the driver installations. I have added the task sequence item inject drivers and added the selection profile for the drivers that need to be installed. On the same item I have added a task sequence variable "Model equals latitude E6220" Which I got the model name by going to entering the cmd "wmic csproduct get name".

Will this stop the drivers being installed on any other system and only install them on the latitude?

Many thanks for your help and answers or advice would be useful.

New Deployment Share gives You don't currently have permissions to access this folder, click continue to permanently get access to this folder.

I have a Windows 2012 R2 server setup and running efficiently. WDS is installed and working. Decided to try out the MDT route. Installed appropriate ADK as well as latest MDT, created MDT_BA user.

Simply following this guide: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows/deploy/prepare-for-windows-deployment-with-mdt-2013

Everything seems to go well until I try to access the Share from Windows Explorer. The folder that is created when I do a New Deployment Share is windowsDeployment. It is shared as \\Server01\windwsDeployment$

When I double click on the folder, I receive the following error

You don't currently have permissions to access this folder, click continue to permanently get access to this folder.

Why does this occur and how can I stop it or is this the intended result? I'm logged in as a Domain Administrator that is part of the local Administrators group. I am logged in via Remote Desktop.

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi,

How can I  Pre-Provisioning Bitlocker and  encrypt the OS drive using "used space only" during a Windows 10 MDT task sequence? MBAM will be used later to add protector/s and to store the TPM and recovery key information.

Thank you,

I had to much errors and strange issues i've decided downgraded back to MDT 2012 Update 2

$

Yesterday I decided to install a reference image of a Windows 7 SP1 Pro (I did it thousands of times) inside a Vbox , make a full update with Microsoft updates (our company don't use WSUS - don't ask) and I've tried to capture an Image, it didn't work at all, it didn't showed me the capture option, few days before that i tried to deploy a windows 7 pc, it didn't went well at all, I tried to make an offline media, it didn't went good and stuck

and all of this made me lose lots and lots of time (you guys as System Administrators know how much time is important) so for now and until my company will decide to move to Win 10, I'll stay with the MDT 2012

by the way after the downgrade everything went smooth without any problems.

Very sad :(
