Hi All, I hope someone can help.

I am trying to capture an image by launching litetouch.vbs via "deploymentshare#\cscript\litetouch.vbs".  I am login in to the system as admin and applying the right credentials.  I get the following error:

FAILURE (5610): False: Verify File: \\servername\deploymentshare$\boot\LiteTouchPE_x64.wim

Litetouch deployment failed, return code = -2147467259 0x80004005

Assign computernames based on their entry in the MDT database with SerialNumber and OSDComputerName

I'm trying to assign computernames based on their entry in the MDT database but I'm having trouble --what am I missing?

I'm using MDT 2012 integrated with SCCM 2012. I have MDT set up with SQL server, and I have run the 'configure database rules' wizard to configure a customsettings.ini, with all settings selected. I then copied this customsettings.ini file to my MDT Toolkit package that was created when I went through the 'create MDT Task Sequence' wizard.

* I'm pre-populating the MDT database with computers, and I want to use the SerialNumber field to identify each one; so for each computer object in the MDT database, I have only the SerialNumber and OSDComputername set.

In my SCCM task sequence, I have:

- Use toolkit package
- Gather
- Set Task Sequence Variable: OSDComputerName=%OSDComputername%
- Apply Windows Settings

Many Many Thanks!

Migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 via MDT 2012 Update 1 - Refresh scenario (Hard links)

I want to perform migration from Windows XP Professional SP3 machines to Windows 7 Professional SP1 in branch office locations. One of these machines in each branch office acts as a local database and file server and do not need to be migrated to Windows 7 and will be used in migration process - refresh scenario as "local mdt machine". I do not have DHCP servers deployed in branch office locations so each machine there has static ip address.

Can I accomplish this by doing the following:

  1. copy deployment share from machine where MDT 2012 Update 1 is installed and configured (located in IT department) to "local mdt machine"
  2. on "local mdt machine" modify DeployRoot setting in BootStrap.ini file to target this machine instead of real mdt machine located in IT department
  3. run LiteTouch.vbs script located on "local mdt machine" from all other Windows XP Professional SP3 machines via network share and complete migration

I must note again that I do not have machines in branch office locations with MDT 2012 Update 1 installed nor DHCP servers thus each machine there has static ip address!

'Missing script engine for file extension .vsb' during reference image deployment via MEDIA - Windows server 2012

When i try to deploy my base/reference server 2012 image to a reference computer, using the media route, I encounter an error message, stating,

'There is no script engine for file extension ".vsb". '

When I tried google'ing what the problem might be, it appeared to me, that the '.vsb' file extension isn't very used, so I tried locating which file in the media had the extension, and as far as I can see, no file has this extension. The .vsb file extension referes to the 'Vsample soundbank'-filetype, and I can't really see, why such a file would be placed in the media folder.

Could the file be hidden or similar, or am I missing something very basic?

Any comments or ideas are very welcome! :)

No Capture - Unable to open registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Setup\CloneTag

This seems to be a common issue out there with multiple solutions.  I had a client last month with this same issue, I found a fix that worked, but the same fix is not working in this case.

The first fix that worked, but not working now is:

  1. Open the LTISysprep file with Notepad
  2. Remove the oShell.RegDelete  "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Setup\CloneTag" line
  3. Close and save the file
  4. Update your Deployment Share
  5. Proceed to capture

Any suggestions?

MDT 2012: Install Visio 2010 and Project 2010 as Application Task Sequence?

$

We are not deploying Office via MDT because it is already in the base image since everyone gets it.

We just need to be able to install Visio and Project on a case by case basis during deployments.

We are short on disk space in the deployment share, so I want to launch the installations via an existing network share on another server.

I have set it up as Standard Application, Quiet install command: setup exe, Working Directory:\\server\apps\visio for Visio and \\server\apps\project for Project.

This ends up failing at the end of the deployment:  "returned an unexpected error code:2"

So, what needs to be entered in the quiet install command and what needs to be entered n the working directory to make this work without importing the application installation files into the deployment share?

What is the user context of the application installation?  I don't see how to add domain user credentials it would need to access the setup.exe that is on the network share.  I cannot give a local user account rights to access the network share.

Windows Logon Message stops MDT

We have a Windows Logon Message across our network. Users see the message before they can logon.

However this is causing problems as it is stoping the MDT process. The image is installed, PC reboots but then the message appears. When you click OK, MDT continues and works perfectly.

IS there anyway around this?

Change SATA emulation to ACHI during deployment?

I have a bunch of computers (HP) running XP where the SATA emulation is set to IDE. I would like to change that to ACHI during deployment without the tech having to do anything manual. when I use the HP BIOS Config utility post applying th eimage, the system goes into repair and wll not boot, so I assume I have to do this during WinPE.

Any hands on experience you can share?

TIA

Migrating from MDT 2012 w/ Windows AIK to MDT 2012 Update 1 w/ Windows ADK

Thuroughly lost at this point.

Upgraded to MDT 2012 with no issues earlier in the year.

Upgraded to MDT 2012 Update 1 with no issues yesterday.

Refreshing myself from TechED I start looking into ADK instead of WAIK.

But I can find nothing that explains how to replace WAIK with ADK on existing MDT setups.

Is there a guide or instructions somewhere that walks one through switching over from WAIK to WADK?

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

I'd like to pin a few shortcuts to taskbar and start screen for all users, but for the life of me I can't find this anywhere.

Anyone have any direction or a script on how to do it?

MDT 2010 Batch Files

Hey,

At our company we like to deploy with MDT 2010 applications with a Bat-file.

Reason: we have to adapt some registrykeys and other stuff with some applications.

I have done the following.

1 - Add application that points to the deploymentshare

2 - Bat-file in de deploymentshare that point with "net use \\server\it\software user:domain\user password"

3 - execute bat-file

The problem is that that after a reboot the domain doesn't trust the computer.

Questions,

- Can somebody tell me the propre way to install applications with a batfile. That batfile is not on the same server then MDT.

I have the read the internet and found that in some way is has to be possible but I didn't find a propre answer to my specific problem.

When I double post I exuse myself.

Install Windows Store App as part of task sequence?

Is it possibly to install Windows Store Apps as part of task sequence?

I would like to install Lync for select business units, the Windows 8 Enterprise tablets are not domain joined.

I could add Lync to the image and then disallow it in applocker but would prefer not to do this.

Thanks,

Sysprep & Capture completed successfully but did nothing

New MDT 2012 install with two Deployment shares, One used for Deployments the other for Captures. Trying to capture a Freshly deployed reference computer with Win7 only that was never joined to the domain.

I started Litetouch.wsf from the Capture share. Select my basic Sysprep and Capture task, put in my credentials, click Begin. I am instantly presented with a Deployment Summary screen stating the Operating System Deployment Completed Successfully, 0 errors 0 warnings, click Finish. It did not sysprep or reboot.

If I open the BDD.log, I have a yellow FAILURE: 1:Run command: NET USE /d /y listed under the LTICleanup component.

As a test...If I create the same task in my Share that I use only for deploying, I get the same results without the failure logged. Still no sysprep or reboot.

Deployment of a fresh win7 works fine. Just not able to sysprep and capture it.

Any help much appreciated,

Brad

Domain-settings in customsettings.ini will disable "capture"-option

Hello,

i am building a new customsettings.ini.

Within this customsettings.ini i want the possiblity to insert the settings for joining a new Cliënt to the domain with specified settings AND the possilibity to capture an reference image.

But...when i add the following settings to my customsettings.ini and start the litetouch.wsf on my reference computer, i have NO possilibity to set the location for the refence image.

 JoinDomain=domain.corp
 DomainAdmin=MDT
 DomainAdminDomain=domain.corp
 DomainAdminPassword=Password

When i delete these settings i have the possibility to set the capture-location etc.

Maybe multiple customsettings.ini or another .ini-file for these settings?

Thx

MDT2012: Deploying in 802.1x secured network possible?

$

Sorry if this is a silly question. I did some search but it is not mentioned anywhere.

I found 802.1x support in WinPE features and how to 'Joining a Wired Client to a Domain' in a 802.1x network in this article.

If I were to enable 802.1x feature in WinPE, rebuild boot image, then start deployment. MDT is supposed to use the credentials in bootstrap.ini to authenticate in wired network. And that's all the work needed, right?

What's the internal mechanism of MDT 2012 to determine the partition with the varible "OSDisk"?

What's the internal mechanism of MDT 2012 to determine the partition with the varible "OSDisk" and install the OS to the partition, if I made the OS image to be applied to the partition with the varible "OSDisk" in the Task Sequence configration page?

MDT 2012 : Unable to mount the WIM, so the update process cannot continue (RpcCommAddImage:(425) Received an unrecognized message id: 0xd0000022)

Hello

I'm trying to "Update Deployment Share" in Deployment Workbench (2012).

It fails with "Unable to mount the WIM, so the update process cannot continue"

I have checked the following:
- the file (winpe.wim) exists
- the file is not read only
- I am running as an administrator and have full rights (UAC is disabled)

If I run ImageX /mount with reference to this file it gets to 100% and also fails
The error it shows is :

"Error mounting image."
"Access is denied"

I have full rights to the source and destination locations (so it can't be file permissions)

If I specify the /logfile option with imagex I get :

[3532] [INFO] Mounting new image.wim <and then the source and destination locations>
[3532] [INFO] WimServ process started for guid:<guid>. Id: 3968
[3532] RpcCommAddImage:(425) Received an unrecognized message id: 0xd0000022
[3532] WIMMountImageHandle:(956): Received an unregognized message id: 0xd0000022

- I've  done a "repair" on the AIK etc.

I also check user rights for "Manage Auditing and Security log" (which I'd seen in another post as possibly relevant) and confirmed my account has those rights.

I've run process monitor but it doesn't show  any sign of "Access Denied" and I can't see any obvious cause for failure.

Have used dir /r to check for alternative data streams in the file - none exist.

I'm struggling to know what else to try to fix this - any suggestions ?!

Imagex.exe and the associated wimgapi.dll that came with the AIK show as  Version: 6.1.7600.16385

Thanks

Using MDT2010 Reference Computer Task to deploy one-off production computer

$

Hello!

Relatively new to using MDT and WDS and had a quick question.  I have my Deployment share mostly setup with core applications, out-of-box drivers and such.  I am stuck on a few final procedures I need to perform in order to sysprep and capture the image.  I just found these forums today and want to search through them a little more before asking those questions.

In the short term, I have to deploy 15 simple machines (Windows 7 and Office only) into production and was wondering if I can use the "Deploy Windows 7 to Reference Computer" task to image each of these machines?  Does it properly generate the SID's and such for the machines?

Side Question:  On the first reboot of building the reference computer, I get a WinSAT.exe error referencing a missing MSVCR100.dll.  Is there a simple fix for this? (My guess would be that maybe the video driver hasn't been loaded yet and so it freaks out trying to gauge video performance.)

Thanks much in advance for the help, I appreciate it!

Jared
